To support the Center for Global Development's migration program.

The Open Philanthropy Project awarded a grant of $1.8 million over three years to the Center for Global Development (CGD) to support the work of Dr. Michael Clemens’ migration team. This is a renewal of support for Dr. Clemens’ work at CGD, to which Open Philanthropy first made a grant in 2014. This grant falls within Open Philanthropy's work on immigration policy.

CGD is a nonprofit think tank focused on international development. It conducts research on and promotes improvements to rich-world policies that affect the global poor. This grant is intended to continue to support CGD's proposed research agenda on labor mobility. This includes support for Dr. Clemens’ salary, as well as costs of travel and working with consultants. The grant is also intended to cover the hiring of a full-time research fellow, plus support from administrative, communications, and policy staff.
