Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) works to improve health through staple foods that are fortified with essential nutrients. GAIN acts as a catalyst — working with governments, businesses, and civil society — to combat the problem of malnutrition globally.

Among its many campaigns, GAIN runs universal salt iodization programs. There is strong evidence that salt iodization programs have a significant, positive effect on children’s cognitive development and do so cost-effectively.
