To support a symposium on farm animal welfare in China, related papers, and a book.

The Open Philanthropy Project awarded a grant of $120,000 to Griffith University to support the work of Professor Deborah Cao, an expert on Chinese animal law, to advance farm animal welfare in China. This is one of several grants Open Philanthropy is making to support farm animal welfare in China, and falls within its overall work on farm animal welfare.

Professor Cao plans to use this grant to fund her collaboration with several academics on Chinese animal studies to write papers on farm animal welfare and vegetarianism in China; to host a symposium in Beijing in 2017 on farm animal welfare in China; and to edit and publish a book on farm animal welfare.
