Good Ventures awarded a grant of $1,488,000 to the Life Sciences Research Foundation to support young investigators in the life sciences. Good Ventures, with support from the Open Philanthropy Project, has been investigating how best to fund scientific research that might help reduce the future burden of Alzheimer's disease. One theme of its conversations on this topic so far is that more support for young investigators is needed, and the Life Sciences Research Foundation came recommended as an organization that sponsors fellowships for young investigators. Good Ventures reviewed a list of young investigators nominated for fellowships and supported the most outstanding young investigators on the list, regardless of direct connections between their work and Alzheimer's disease, in the interest of speeding scientific advances generally.
