The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $5,000,000 over two years to The Justice Collaborative (TJC), via the Tides Foundation, for general support. TJC, a research and strategic communications collaborative fighting for a smaller, more humane criminal justice system, is led by Rob Smith. The Open Philanthropy Project helped launch an earlier iteration of this organization in April 2016.
This follows Open Philanthropy's March 2018 support and falls within its focus area of criminal justice reform.
