The Open Philanthropy Project awarded a grant of $100,000 to We Got Us Now for general support. This grant falls within Open Philanthropy's work on criminal justice reform.

We Got Us Now is intended to be a digital platform built by, led by, and for children of incarcerated parents that seeks to advocate for and raise awareness of policies that support children of incarcerated parents. This grant will support the launch of the digital platform, which will include resources for children of incarcerated parents, storytelling media such as videos, audio files, and a blog, and a leadership institute to train children of incarcerated parents (ages 16-35) to organize and advocate for relevant criminal justice reforms. Funds from this grant will be used primarily for hiring staff and to cover costs associated with the production of original content.
