Center for Popular Democracy — Fed Up Campaign 2018

Organization:
Center for Popular Democracy
Award Date:
02/2018
Amount:
$1,200,000
Purpose:
To support the "Fed Up" campaign.

The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $1,200,000 to the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) to support the “Fed Up” campaign. The campaign aims to encourage more accommodative monetary policies and greater transparency and public engagement in the governance of the Federal Reserve. As labor market conditions have improved, Open Philanthropy has become less confident about the appropriate short term stance of monetary policy, but continues to believe it to be worthwhile to support the campaign through the next recession, when its advocacy might be especially useful and when Open Philanthropy could better evaluate its impact.

Open Philanthropy has written in more detail about its rationale for supporting this campaign on its 20142015, and 2016 grant pages. This grant falls within Open Philanthropy's work on macroeconomic stabilization policy.
