SPUR works to promote good planning and good government in the San Francisco Bay Area. We would like San Francisco to be a city that can continue to grow while remaining as affordable as possible. We perceive SPUR to be a capable organization focused on the public interest that produces intelligent analysis on how to address San Francisco’s planning problems — analysis that incorporates the interests of potential residents, future residents and the world at large, including environmental considerations.
Because we are based in San Francisco, we are well suited to participate in — and learn from — discussions of local policy, and what we learn about policymaking locally could benefit our broader research agenda. (For example, zoning reform is a preliminary area of interest for us.)
